Our Community Involvement

When we first established Retex Roofing & Exteriors as a local roofing and exterior business in Richmond, Virginia, we were firm in our mission to create a company that gives back to its community.

In fact, two of our Retex core principles are to give back to the community we serve and to put our faith and family first. With those principles in mind, we decided to commit to volunteering once a month with Richmond Metropolitan’s Habitat for Humanity.

Why Habitat for Humanity?

We love their mission to provide housing for local families and their vision for creating a world in which everyone has a decent place to live. They seek to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Plus, Josh comes from a long line of contractors, including his father, and he loves learning the ins-and-outs of residential construction. Meanwhile, Katelyn feels a familial connection to the organization, as her maternal grandfather was very involved with Habitat throughout his life. So dedicating one day each month to building, learning, and volunteering seemed like a no-brainer!

Our Retex team members have helped Habitat’s Build teams on more than 10 job sites, ranging in work from framing, trim, and window installations to painting and peeling wallpaper (really!). We’ve had the opportunities to participate in their home dedication ceremonies and to throw some Cornhole bean bags in their first annual Halloween fundraising competition in 2021. And we’ve made many friends along the way with other volunteers and Habitat staff.
