In fact, the nails holding them in place will go bad before the slate shingles do. A natural product derived from volcanic ash and clay, slate is also super durable, waterproof, and fireproof.
But this roofing type isn’t made for everyone’s home. Its weight in particular keeps a home not designed at its foundation for slate unable to hold up to it.
